Search Engine Optimization or SEO- What is the term all about? It is a process that helps your website to appear in search results through a set of keyword or keyphrases. When a user enters a query in search engines like: Google or Yahoo then the search engine returns with million of results of different-different websites.

It has been proved that 65% people use search engines while browsing the internet. So it is very important that you optimize your site well for these search engines to promote your business. In this blog I will tell you the best ways to optimize a site.

The first and foremost is the research for appropriate keywords. You should be very clear about your site’s theme, services, products and the competitors. There are many keyword research tools that will help you in finding the right keyword for your site. Some of them are: Google.com/insights/search, Google Adwords, Wordtracker. You just have to enter your main keyword in the box and these tools will show you various types of searched keywords. While finalizing the keyword list you should be aware of the fact that the more searchable keyword will be more competitive also.

Once you are done with the keyword list you should plan your site structure if it is new and restructuring if its not new still required. Then you need to write meta tags, I’ve mentioned about the uses of meta tags in my previous post. Keep in mind that your keywords get 70% weight from these meta tags so it should be well written and keyword targeted.

After writing the meta tags the other step that is more important is the content. It is believed that “Content is the king”. So your content should play around like a King…lol. The content you are putting on a page should be keyword rich….wait..wait…when I say “Keyword Rich” it doesn’t mean that you include just keywords in whole content. There should be a limited and proper use of keyword in the content. You should write the content in paragraphs divided with suitable headings. For headings you can use the H tags (H1, H2, H3, H4). After you are finished with content assume that half of your work is done. The few that left are linking, backlinking and offline promotion through articles, websites, blogs, social networking etc.

Believe if you use all above steps carefully nobody can stop you from coming on top in search results.
